Case |

Some weeks ago I talked to a friend of mine about casemodding. He had previously seen a briefcase made into a computer case on VirtualHideouts cool case gallery and thought it was a brilliant idea. The Gallery can give you lots of inspiration, there are many extreme innovative and cool cases there. Well, later on that same day we decided to see if we could fit his computer inside a brief case. Since we both regularly are on LANs, transportability is an important factor (especially since he has like the smallest care ever made). Also the coolness of having a case like this was an one of the reason he decided to do it. I myself have a big ass case, but I`m thinking of using a smaller case again, just because I hate dragging all my heavy computer equipment when I travel to LANs. This is the second time we do a complete rebuild mod. Go here to see our previously modded Adtronics 7896A. We did this mod late saturday in my basement, the lighting was somewhat poor so some pictures did not turn out quite as good as others. Also the first time I used this camera so I was not used to it yet. The briefcase we used we`re a no-name, cheap aluminum case designed to be a tool case. We did all the measurements of the MoBo, drives and psu before we got the case. The Measurements we had done matched almost precisely on the case we bought. The plan was to fit the Motherboard in one end of the case and the 5.25 drives and psu in the other. Hdd`s we`re to be fastened in the "roof" of the case next to a 120mm fan blowing cold air down on the cpu. Above Is a picture of the case before we started the modding. Although he wanted to have the coolest case in his block his hardware aint that cool. Here`s the list: sound: SB AWE64, Video card: ATI All-In-Wonder 128 16mb, Net: accton 1207 and 100mbit ISDN: teleS 16.3c pnp CPU: AMD k6-II @500 Cooling: Alpha from 3dfxcool MoBo: EPoX MVP3G VIA chipset, RAM:64mbit HD: 23GB cd-rom: 48x, cd burner: 2x. Not all that as you can see. Here`s a picture of his hardware and the Motherboard mounting tray we are going to use. The tray belongs to his old noname case. The Following picture shows what happens when you dont clean you case now and then. It collects dust. And lots of it. We used 15 minutes just cleaning his component's before putting them into the new case. This picture is for educational purposes only :-)
